WARDUN (Dingo Earrings)

Information:

Wardun is the Lardil word for Dingo.

Wardun was inspired by my grandmother tales of the wise old dingo that saved her ancestors with the protection from the darkness. The darkness being night time, and our mob was lost at one point and the dingo lead them straight to safety. 

Dingo’s are a very proud breed of animal, they are known as fierce protectors as well as display compassion towards their clan group. It is a trait we as Aboriginal people value and want to see within ourselves. 

The kangaroo embodies the resilience, resourcefulness, & profound spiritual connection
that are central to Aboriginal culture. Additionally, kangaroos feature prominently in Dreamtime stories, where they serve as totemic animals, each associated with specific clans and their ancestral lore.

Materials:

• Acrylic circle material (very light weight)
• Maple wood Dingo with resin 
• Stainless steeling back postings 

Measurements:

• Whole earring - 4.5 cm in height
• Circle - 1.5 x 2 cm diameter
